MissDizzy,
not necessarily. You can try running Skype 2.8, which Mac OS X 10.5.8 should be able to use if you add the following line to your /etc/hosts file:
127.0.0.1 ui.skype.com
Skype 5.8 for mac. Windows Top Windows Mobile Mobile Top Mac Game. Windows software >> More. Skype Translator Pro 4.1.1.2. Professional Skype translate for users who want to instantly translate skype conversation to different languages: English. Skype wont work with my mac os 10.5.8 afternoon, tried to download skype on my power book g4 and it after download I try to open the dm and it says wont work with this artitecture. I am running 10.5.8 after I have download the dm the window that I should put it into the applications had like a do not enter symbol.
(The whitespace between the “1” and the “ui” should be a single tab character.)
If you’d rather not use an older version of Skype and edit one of your system files, you could instead purchase the white retail Snow Leopard DVD and install Snow Leopard onto your MacBook Pro, run Software Update to get it updated to Mac OS X 10.6.8, and then see if you can download and run the latest version of Skype.
If the latest version of Skype doesn’t run under Mac OS X 10.6.8, you could then download either Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks from the Mac App Store (which will be available to you once you have Mac OS X 10.6.8 installed), install the newer OS, and run Software Update again to get up to date. (Note that if you have an Early 2006 MacBook Pro, you’ll only be able to upgrade to Snow Leopard; if you have a Late 2006 model, you can only upgrade up to Lion. Lion and Mountain Lion are not gratis; Mavericks is gratis. If you upgrade past Snow Leopard, then you might need more RAM to run well.)
